Homei Bridge, Saijo

The name Takaoka ("high hill") comes from an old Chinese poem, which goes: "A phoenix cries on that high hill; a parasol tree stands in the morning sun." This bridge over the Senbo River was named Homei ("phoenix crying") Bridge after this poem. The statue of a phoenix made by Tominaga Naoki stands at the center of the bridge.
