A unique folk cultural event not found anywhere else in Japan. On the morning of New Year's Day, the "reader" holds up yellowtail (buri) dedicated to the shrine and reads out the names of the districts that dedicated them. Then slices of yellowtail and rice cakes are distributed to local houses. Villagers eat them and pray for health in the coming year.
