Plants along the Banks of Oyabe River, Takaoka Area

Umanosuzukusa, Ma dou ling, Aristolochia debilis (Aristolochiaceae)
This perennial vine grows on dykes and riverbanks. The long stem winds around nearby objects. It has a peduncle that extends from the side of the leaves, and it blooms from July to September with flowers growing horizontally. The Japanese name is derived from the shape of the fruit, which resembles the bells placed around horses' necks.
