The barley-cutting song sung by former Heike samurai warriors, who set aside their swords for hoes, is known as "mugiya-bushi." Wearing period costumes, consisting of crested kimonos, hakama, bright white cords controlling their flapping sleeves and carrying woven hats, the men perform a stirring dance, carrying swords under their arms.
