Bishamon Cedar Tree and Bishamon Hall, Kitahannya

Long ago there was in this place a hall enshrining the god Bishamonten. The Bishamon cedar was an enormous tree that grew on the site of the hall. It was said to be 1,300 years old and was designated a national natural monument during the Taisho era (1912-1926). In 1979 the great tree was topped by a typhoon.
