A heavy rain on June 30, 1952 led to a great flood as embankments of the Oyabe River and the Senbo River collapsed, causing great damage to all of Takaoka. One person was killed and two others seriously injured. Flood victims totaled 7,626. The damage was widespread, and in the Kawara district, Jinbo Bridge fell down. The cost of the damage totaled 390 million yen in the currency value of those days.
