Long ago, there was a man named Taimasa in Kano, Himi. As he was riding his horse past the beach at Ota, he heard someone call out his name. He looked around carefully and found a 5-centimeter-tall Buddha figurine made of gold in the sand. He took it home with him. It was so gracious that he offered it to be worshipped at Jonichiji Temple, a temple that receives the first rays of the morning sun.
