The Jinai-cho of Shokoji Temple, Fushiki

This town formed around Shokoji Temple, which was of the Jodo Shinshu Honganji sect. Its economy was based almost exclusively on maritime transport. Thus, many buildings remain today that originally shipping agencies. The Jinai-cho district was part of the temple; it maintained its autonomy but was located within the precincts of the Jodo shu temple.
