Kizu-mura often suffered damage from the flooding of the Senbo River. One ancient record, dated 1786, indicates that when arable land was lost to flooding, the ruling clan granted a reduction in the rice tax. According to another ancient record, dated 1646, the village was listed as an area regularly hit by flooding.
