The Jizo of Abura-cho, Seibi

This statue was found a long time ago in the Shogawa River that flows near Kyomachi. In olden days, a Buddhist service was held on July 24 in appreciation of local magistrates who created favorable policies for the townspeople. This is said to be the origin of the Jizo Festival held in every town.
