When Nagoshi Tokiari, Shugo (protector) of Etchu, lived in Futazuka Castle, he commissioned two hanging bells to be made. One was for the castle and the other was donated to the temple, but both were lost. Many years later, when an irrigation channel was dug to use the water of the moat surrounding Futazuka Castle, one bell was found. That bell is hanging today at Joseiji Temple.
