Terano Shusuiro (1836-1907), Fukuda

The founder of a publisher's haiku poetry society, Etsuyukai.
Terano was the head priest at Saikoji Temple in Wada. Demonstrating talent in composing haiku and waka poems as well as painting, at the age of 60 he took on the pen name Shusuiro and established the Etsuyukai haiku poetry group. Among his well-known disciples are Yamaguchi Karitsu and Ikadai Takenokado.
