Chuetsu Railroad Co., Ltd. was established in 1895 to run the first train in Toyama Prefecture in 1897. Three years later, the company started the service of the Fushiki Line starting from Takaoka. In the Taisho era, the line was extended to Himi and became the Himi Line.
