Until the early 1950s there stood a huge cedar tree in the middle of Suehiro-machi. From the ground it branched into seven trunks, and was thus known as the seven-trunk cedar. It is said that a long-nosed goblin lived in the tree, because of many mysterious occurrences. Whoever tried to cut it down, that person's house would burn down.
