Mt. Futagami is just under 300 meters in height and located in the suburbs of
Takaoka. Well loved by the residents of Takaoka, it has a
deep historic significance. Mt. Futagami (274 meters) in
the east is sometimes called the "male peak" and Mt. Shiro (259 meters) in the west the "female peak." Together with Mt. Hachibuse to the northeast, these three hills mark off a popular
8.4 kilometer scenic driving course popularly called the "Manyo line." Motoring along the Manyo line is an excellent way to enjoy the scenery of the
Tateyama mountains.
