Takaoka Kojo Park, located roughly in the center of the city, is a nature park
abounding in rustic beauty. Approximately one-third of its
total area is devoted to a water jump obstacle course. In
the park are the ruins of Takaoka Castle, built some 390
years ago for Maeda Toshinaga, second daimyo (feudal lord)
of the Kaga clan, by Takayama Ukon, one of the foremost castle
builders of the age. Also home to a community center and
a museum, the park is a relaxing place, popular among local
residents.
