Shiro ebi (white prawn): These are caught off Shinminato in the season from April through to November. The surface area of the sea where schools of white prawns swim is designated as a cultural asset by the city. Live white prawns are transparent and pale pink in color, and are often referred to as "The Jewel of Toyama Bay."
