This spring festival of Johana Shinmei Shrine, with a history of about 300 years, is designated as an important intangible folk cultural asset of the national government. The festival features lion dance, kenhoko and kasahoko decorative pikes each with a shade or a sword, mikoshi portable shrines, and six hikiyama (wheeled floats) preceded by six ioriyatai (smaller floats) from six areas, parading through the town.
