In the Keian period, when Shinmei Shrine was founded, people welcomed the holly spirit from Ise Shrine holding lanterns in their hands. This festival, with a history of about 350 years, is held to commemorate this event. It takes place on May 1 and 2. In the middle of the night of May 2, the festival reaches its climax with a dynamic fight between large lantern floats endeavoring to break each other by colliding.
