On Kutani porcelain we find five basic enamel colors (gosai) applied thickly-red, yellow, green, purple, and cobalt blue - with lines drawn in a cobalt blue pigment known as "gosu." The pictures often depict landscapes, birds, and flowers, and are drawn on using a bold over glaze, creating a vivid work of art.
