The travelogue written by Takayama Hikokuro, a royalist of the mid-Edo era, includes a report of his visit to Zuiryuji Temple. He describes the temple minutely: "...I enter through the north gate. A priest is on guard. A grand sanctuary in the garden...." This was written in 1775. It is interesting to know the state of the temple in those days.
