This novel is about Tempyoji Temple in Noto, which was embroiled in war after the era of the Northern and Southern Dynasties (1336-1392), and about the life of a man who, along with other believers, saved the temple. The second half of the book depicts the time from the building of Takaoka Castle to its downfall.
