Tsubataya Yoshibe was a man who staged a protest against another town for copying the floats used in the Takaoka Mikurumayama Festival. He was arrested and died in jail. His name is celebrated in Yamacho as a protector of the tradition of Mikurumayama floats. The Yoshibe Festival is held on April 3 at Sekino Shrine, at which a meeting is held to arrange details for the year's Mikurumayama Festival.
