Igarashi Atsuyoshi was born in what is today the city of Takaoka. He is widely known as a Japanese classical studies scholar, poet, and agricultural scholar. His poetry collection, "Fusushi no ya eiso" spans 12 volumes, including some 5,683 tanka and 63 nagauta poems. Atsuyoshi studied Japanese classical studies under Fujitani Mitsue.
