The protagonist, who made a business trip to the Hokuriku region, heard that a woman with whom he had pledged in the past to die with was now living in Takaoka and so he went to the city. By chance, his visit takes place on the day of Tanabata, Star Festival, which commemorates the legend of two lovers who are turned into stars that come together only once a year.
