The author visited Kokutaiji Temple in the winter of 1930 and wrote poems about the Buddhist memorial service conducted then. Every year at Kokutaiji Temple, several dozen mendicant Zen priests (komuso) give a shakuhachi performance at the Founding Day held on June 2 and 3. Many tourists come to the temple to see the procession.
