Tawara Machi was invited to the Manyo Festival held in 1989. At that time, she wrote Tanka no Tabi, describing her impressions when she was taken to Manyo Drive. Mt. Futagami, which she visited, often has been the subject of poetry over the centuries. Many haiku markers are found mid-way up the mountain.
