Shogawa is famed for its salmon that swim upstream in the autumn. Downstream from the Takaoka Bridge, fish weirs are set up to catch the salmon.

This event, arranged by the Takaoka Chamber of Commerce, is held on the first Sunday of every month.

An early morning fresh food market and flea market are held twice in May to promote enjoyment of Takaoka. The market is open from 5:30 a.m. to 7:30 a.m.

Farmers come from the surrounding countryside to sell their vegetables early morning.

A family sporting event with running events for primary schoolchildren and up, including a relay race for children in the 4th to 6th grades.
