Over many years the crops presented to the deity Jizo in thanks for an abundant
harvest came to be known as tsukurimon, and the associated
festival, which has become famous far and wide, now attracts
some 120,000 visitors annually. The creations, employing
seasonal fruits and vegetables or wildflowers, take current
events as their themes. The festival is well loved for the
simple and humorous character of the offerings.
Held on September 23 and 24 in the Fukuoka area.
