This event features a number of special attractions of summer, such as a fireworks display, competitive performances on gentara daiko drums, and sankasa dances. The main attraction is the "catch the carp" contest, in which large numbers of children and adults participate. Contestants jump into the river and try to land the largest fish amid shrieks and laughter.The Riverside Festival is held on the first Sunday of August in Shinsui Park (Oyabe River) in Tsuchiya, Fukuoka.
