The festival is held in a locale associated with the Genpei War and features events including the kagyu no kei (flaming bull stratagem) race, which was inspired by the story of how Kiso Yoshinaka bound flaming torches to the horns of bulls and drove them into the Taira army, causing its defeat.
It is held every July in the shopping district in front of Isurugi Station.
