The Fushiki Hikiyama Festival is a springtime rite in honor of the deity enshrined
in Fushiki Shrine, the protector of the coast and god of
safety at sea. With the spectacle of Hikiyama (sometimes
called the "fighting wheeled float" and the "courageous wheeled float") seemingly struggling late into the night, large numbers of townspeople gather
in a festive atmosphere.
