Takaoka Morning Market
An early morning fresh food market and flea market are held twice in May to promote
enjoyment of Takaoka. The market is open from 5:30 a.m. to
7:30 a.m.

Mt. Futagami Yaezakura Festival
The western peak of the two peaks of Mt. Futagami came to be known as "Shiroyama" for its castle.

Agripia Takaoka Flower Festival
Among the events held during this festival are a tulip cut-flower contest, a
wild plant exhibition, flower art exhibits, and flower growing
seminars.

Marumage Festival
This festival is said to originate in the custom among geiko of dressing their
hair in the marumage style (a hairstyle for married women)
and visiting the Senjuji Temple to pray to the Kwannon goddess
of mercy.

Edo period (1603~1868) as part of rites to pray for the end
of droughts.
