Nihon Amagaeru, Japanese tree frog, Hyla japonica (Hylidae) This tiny, squat frog is found from Kyushu and northward, from coastal areas to urban parks, and from grasslands to high mountains. Most are green or gray, but they can change color to adapt to their surroundings. The male extends it throat and croaks loudly. The frog lays eggs in puddles after rain in rice paddies and damp ground.
