The Takeda family is said to be descendants of Takeda Nobutsuna, a younger brother of famous feudal lord Takeda Shingen in Kai. The rich farming family was the leader of Ota Village for generations. It is said the Takeda Residence was built with remaining lumber after reconstruction of the main hall of Shokoji Temple in 1774. The pillars and the grand beams called wakunouchi are quite impressive.
