Tenaga Ebi, Fresh Water Prawn, Macrobrachium nipponense (Palaemonidae) The most common freshwater prawn in Japan. It is an important food source and often takes on a local name. Lives in relatively low-lying rivers and lakes where the flow of water is gentle, showing a slight preference for bottom sediment that is sandy or muddy. The male's chelipeds are 1.5 times longer than its body.
