Mokuzugani, Japanese mitten crab, Eriocheir japonicus (Grapsidae)" "This type of crab can be seen in rivers, estuaries, and at the seashore. Many inhabit Oyabe River, where it is called a river crab and is caught for food. Because of the long, soft clumps of hair on each of its pincers, it is also known as a ""kegani"" or ""zugani."" It moves downstream to lay eggs and a half year later moves up the river again.
