"Found throughout Japan. One type lives in fresh water while another lives in the sea. The freshwater dace can be found in many rivers, even in strongly acidic waters that do not support other fish life. The sea-dwelling dace can be found in brackish water (areas where fresh water mixes with seawater) as well as in bays and along open sea coastlines.
